Improving "Working Memory"

Can Coffeeberry help Working Memory?

All types of memory are, without a doubt, essential for our survival and well-being. However, there is one certain type of memory – working memory – which is responsible for integrating all the other types into one, while simultaneously utilizing many of our cognitive abilities. When you are confronted with any situation that necessitates your problem-solving abilities, when you attempt mental arithmetic, or when you take notes on a podcast while admiring the sunset, you are actually utilizing your working memory’s ability to manipulate information.

Interestingly, coffee fruit extract can have a direct impact on this amazing ability that we possess. Researchers suggest that WCFE has great antioxidative effects that lead to positive neurophysiological outcomes in our bodies. These effects are mainly due to certain natural micronutrients that occur in coffee fruit, known as polyphenols. By performing extensive scans on participants’ brains, scientists discovered that Coffee Fruit led to increased connectivity in brain areas (ACC and PFC) responsible for the proper functioning of working memory. This recent finding is of great importance and it could be one of the main reasons why many people who incorporate CF into their diet report feeling more focused when executing relatively complex tasks that involve the use of working memory.
